These are stunning pieces of Oriental needlework. I purchased them from the estate of a world traveler and I think that they are needlework panels created on silk. They have been framed by a
professional and I hate to tear off the backing paper to fully "explore" the wonders of these pieces. I have 4. They are framed in nice faux bamboo frames. Overall they measure 18 1/2" x 13 3/4". The wonderful needlework showing under the dark green mat measures 13 3/4" x 9". 3 are in like new condition and 1 has a small discolored area that looks like a water
mark, it is very faint and I did not notice it until just now. 1) 3 mountains in background village in foreground. 2) mountain in background tree and small boat in foreground very colorful 3) 3 mountains in background with sanpans and other boats 4) small waterspot - mountains in background man on bridge and small houses in foreground. I have tried without success to translate the Oriental text on each piece but translating
these characters is not an easy task and I have not gotten very far. You can purchase them singly, as a pair or all 4. |
