Here we are in the downside of winter, the snow is still flying and we are all doing our best to stay warm and sane. I have already perused the seed catalogs and ordered my tomato and other vegetable seeds for the garden. I always plant heirloom tomatoes and roses but this year all of the veggies will be heirloom. I have also started my spring cleaning which
around here includes going through boxes that have been stored away. Which means LOTS of new inventory in the shop. I am currently running a SALE in the shop but it won't last much longer…. only about 1 more week… so visit now to get in on the sale prices - www.mygrannysatticantiques.com Throughout the month of Feb. I will be adding quite a bit of new inventory of all types so please be sure to check in often. I have many wonderful items for you.
GREAT FIND STORY I am so thankful for you all. You offer me invaluable advice, knowledge and criticisms. So many errors have been corrected by customer's and shop visitors… I could not do it without you. A recent newsletter suggestion was to offer you the opportunity to tell us all about YOUR wonderful antiques and collectibles finds. After all, isn't this one of the reasons that we search high and low for that one special piece for an
amazing price? Please send "Your Great Find" Stories to me and I will publish them in the newsletter. When I get enough of them I will post them on the shop site.
Mr. Riley is the one who made the suggestion for this addition to the newsletter so I will start with his story. He is a collector of fountain pens, among other things. Mr. Riley bought, at a recent estate sale, a 1942 Parker Vacumatic fountain pen desk set for $2.50. The pen set is conservatively valued at approximately
$150!!! WOW, this is terrific and it's also good to know that the great finds are still out there so keep your peepers peeled and let us know about your amazing finds. Collecting, Loving and Playing with Vintage Paper Dolls This months newsy topic is dolls, Paper Dolls, to be exact. My pre-spring cleaning has caused me to sit, reexamine and weed out my doll collection. I am beyond capacity and need to pare down to only the dolls I love and the
ones that have sentimental value. Paper dolls fall into the dolls I love category.
I have always enjoyed paper dolls and now that I have a granddaughter I have someone to play paper dolls with once again. I subscribe to a current magazine ... for the paper dolls even though I do read the articles too. Read the rest of the article FALLING SNOW See the pretty snowfakes Falling from the sky; On the wall and housetops
Soft and thick they lie. On the window ledges, On the branches bare; Now how fast they gather, Filling all the air. Look into the garden, Where the grass was green; Covered by the snowflakes, Not a blade is seen. Now the bare black bushes All look soft and white, Every twig is laden, -- What a pretty sight! If you would like to read more vintage poems here
is the link. http://www.ongoing-tales.com/SERIALS/oldtime/POETRY/index.html This link will take you to a Valentine Day Card from me to you and an article that I ran in the newsletter last February about the "Oldest Valentine Card" www.mygrannysatticantiques.com/html/newsletter_article_pg_2.html I will close now. Be sure to visit the shop and take advantage of the current sale as
it will end soon and new inventory will be on its way. Be sure to send me your Great Find Stories and other tidbits of interest. Thank you for your patronage and friendship.
