Beautiful Figurine Help

I found this beautiful figurine from Goodwill for $5.  My birthday is the same as the name on the bottom as well as the birthdate of her son.  I cannot find anything in the internet about her life or if she did any other pieces.  I don't know how to find what it can be worth even though I am not sure if I want to sell it.  I feel emotionally connected to this piece.  The bottom says Ruth Duby, Canada, 174.  I was trying to work with an appraiser in CN but never heard again from him.  She was born in 1863.  Can anyone help?
